O2 Arena pledges money for grassroots venues

Finally some action on the grassroots venue crisis.....and if you dont think it's a crisis, to remind you, one grassroots music venue was closed every twos weeks in 2024....

The O2 arena in Greenwich has pledged to make a donation to the Music Venue Trust, a charity that aims to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues for every new headliner at the arena.

How many is that?? I hear you say....well this year (2025) there were 50 first time performers at the arena and so that should add up to quite a bit! Plus the O2 is making a six figure initial donation. Lovely.

Lets hope this helps to slow further closures and sets up and coming artists for the future.
